Tasikoki Garden in the Netherlands

On World Environment Day (June 5th) a ‘Tasikoki garden’ was officially opened on the DHL campus in Beringe, The Netherlands. Tasikoki volunteer and DHL employee Harm Dekkers was looking for a way to make the connection between these two worlds to be able to apply to the DHL Living Responsibility Fund. This fund stimulates volunteering of DHL employees and rewards volunteering projects that meet the criteria (among other things a connection with DHL). To meet this the ‘Tasikoki garden’ was created at the DHL entrance, thanks to the campus management team.

The garden has been planted with flowers and plants that support bees and butterflies. These insects that are essential for food supply and biodiversity are endangered, just like many of the animals at Tasikoki are endangered.

During the opening an information board was revealed that explains what the garden symbolizes; The worldwide importance of conservation of biodiversity and treating the world we live in in a more sustainable way to fight animal extinction and climate change. As an eye-catcher the garden has to keep drawing attention to this, to create awareness and hopefully inspire people to go volunteer or to donate. The project was rewarded by the Living Responsibility Fund with € 1000,- for Tasikoki.

The team here at Tasikoki and the Masarang Foundation would like to thank Harm Dekkers for his continued support, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do if it wasn’t for such dedicated and passionate volunteers like Harm.
